A clothesline of beauty

We had so much during Jane's Fabric Paper workshop last Saturday. As you can see, we hung our beautiful fabric paper sheets out on a makeshift clothesline behind the store just as fast as we could create them. This was a super fun class! Jane will return in the fall for the two-day version of this worksop. That way we get to spend day two making "quilts" from our collage sheets. The results are simply amazing and definitely worth framing.

Our sincere thanks...

It was a fun time around the store for our craft & crop event to benefit the family of Debbie Hill (shown here on left). She stopped in to give a personal thanks to the many generous crafters who have kindly, and quickly, stepped in to help her family. Debbie gave us a brief update on her husband Frank's condition. As of today, he is one fourth of the way to reaching his goal of 100 days after the transplant. That's an important mileston for Bone Marrow Transplant patients. Let's all keep Frank, Debbie, and their four boys in our thoughts.

We'd also like to thank so many wonderful people who donated time and auction items for the event. First, we had three great make & take projects - here's Katie donating her design and her time to offer a cute My Favorite Things card. Deni created a scrap page and Mary made a lovely Mother's Day card. We thank these talented designers.

Second, the Silent Auction was a great success as well. If you won your item, you should have received a call from Joni today. A big thanks for the item donations goes to: Amisha, Bette, Claire, Deni, Karen and Mary.

Two very happy crafters, Kathleen and Moriah, clearly enjoying the event.  We thank them, and all of you, for helping to raise more than $2,000 for the Hill family.  THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!

New Zentangle Spa

 


Wendy Brown, Certified Zentangle Teacher, will be offering a new option for our Zentangle fans beginning Wed, May 9th, called Zentangle Spa. This will be an opportunity for you to learn something new about Zentangling, but also to bring your own projects from home to work on.  Many of you have expressed a desire for designated ZXentangle time.  Well, this is it. Zentangle Spa day, or evening, is your personal time to "tangle" with others in a focused environment that will also include tea, chocolate, warm towels and luxurious handcreams for the total spa feeling. The fee will be $8 per meeting.

Zentangle Spa Dates:

Wed, May 9th, 10am-12 OR 6:30-8:30pm

Wed, Jun 13th, 6:30-8:30pm

Thurs, Jun 14th, 10am-noon

Lucky Elephant

Here's a gift I made for my father-in-law this past weekend.  The elephant is from a kit we have in the store called Paper Quilt Creations.  This is a new company we found at winter CHA.  They are from Australia. The owner, Michaela Laurie, designs a variety of images that can be used with paper scraps or fabric. This is a wonderful way to make use of your paper scrap bin. And if you are anything like me - you have a ton of scraps. I'm always sure I will use them for something! Well, these kits turn out to be a fantastic way to use scraps of all kinds.

In addition to the elephant, we have hearts, hot air balloons, traditional quilt squares, shoes, handbags, butterflies and more. Stop in to see the different patterns in color. It's fun to add ribbons, buttons, charms and other trims to embellish your work. If you like to sew, you can stitch around the design for a truly "quilted" effect. I just glued mine and was very happy with the results.  These kits are beautiful, and fairly easy to create. You can matte and frame the finished piece as I did, or use the smaller designs to make unique cards.

This weekend...

We have openings in two great classes this Saturday. 

Joni is offering a Big Shot Basics class from 12:30-2pm for any one who wants to learn more about the versatility of this tool.  Bring your Big Shot to class and have fun trying various dies and embossing folders. You'll get all the information on which "sandwiches" are needed to cut which dies,etc. Tons of fun for just 12! 

Kim is teaching another wonderful Stampscapes class from 2:30-4:30pm. This time you will make two different cards that feature lighthouse scenes. These cards are perfect for any occasion, but they work especially well for the men in your life. We all know how tough it is to come up with great masculine card designs - well, here you go! Make these two cards with Kim on Saturday afternoon.
